  • I harnessed my passion for social change and entrepreneurship by founding Seeds of Knowledge, a project designed to educate children about nutrition and healthy eating through gardening, and to help fight hunger in my community.
  • In March 2015, I partnered with the Highland Park Community Nursery School and installed an outdoor garden consisting of four raised beds and a digging box. The children maintain the garden, eat the vegetables, and learn firsthand where food comes from.
  • In January 2016, I installed five hydroponic garden towers in each of the school’s classrooms to provide children with a year round gardening experience and a supply of fresh vegetables for their lunches, which are prepared on site.
  • I work with the children weekly on activities related to gardening and nutrition.
  • Through my project Seeds of Knowledge, I also work to fight hunger in my community. I want all community members to have access to nutritious and fresh food, not just canned food.
  • Through Seeds of Knowledge, I have donated over 1,600 pounds of fresh vegetables to the Moraine Township Food Pantry and collected $21,036 in monetary and goods donations.
  • I organized and hosted Highland Park’s first Empty Bowls Fundraiser. 500 community members attended the event, and I raised over $9,000 for the local food pantry.
  • I have transformed 3 old parking meters into creative donation stations and installed them in downtown Highland Park. The five-feet meters now resemble a giant carrot, a bright green meter with fruits and vegetables and the words “END HUNGER” painted on it, and a giant green pea pod.
  • I purchase produce for The Moraine Township Food Pantry using all of the change collected from the donation station meters.
  • For the past two summers, I have had a garden plot at the community garden. I maintained the plot and grew and harvested over 150 pounds of vegetables, which I donated to the local food pantry.

  • I am the co-founder of Tree Hugs, a project aimed to help individuals stay warm during Chicago’s brutal winter months. We collect winter wear and hang them on trees in the Chicagoland.
  • Since founding Tree Hugs in the winter of 2015, we have collected over 300 coats and 1,200 items of winter apparel (scarves, gloves, and hats) and wrapped them around trees in local communities for those in need during the winter season.
